Founded in 1983 in New York City by Mr. Wakayama, East Japanese Restaurant Group Company is built on the philosophy of Japanese casual gourmet cuisine, introducing authentic Japanese taste to those with a discerning palate. At its peak, East Company operated more than 30 restaurants across the United States.
The owner-chef of this East Japanese Restaurant at 53rd Street location was born and raised in Japan as the son of a restaurant owner. At a young age, he moved to New York, where he gained experience not only in the city but also in Los Angeles and Philadelphia, working as an executive chef at East Group Restaurants.
Along the way, he had the opportunity to collaborate with French chefs and others from diverse international backgrounds, which greatly influenced his creative approach. Eventually he opened his own sushi restaurant, where his unique culinary style earned him a Michelin star.
Utilizing his extensive culinary background and Michelin-stared chef’s mindset, he carefully creates balanced Hand roll styled Sushi that showcase layers of flavor, unique tastes, and exquisite display.
